Performing arts venue offering community theater, live music, comedy, youth productions, and more.

Designed by architect B.F. Trester, construction was completed in the fall of 1891. Purchased by John Nance Garner in 1917, later sold to the City of Uvalde for $10 with the understanding that it would be used once again as an arts venue.

Renovations began in 1979 and the theater was reopened in 1982 as the center stage of Uvalde. Join us for a show!

Mission

The Uvalde Grand Opera House, built in 1891, seeks to enhance the lives of all people in Uvalde and the surrounding area through programs and presentations of quality live theatre, and to promote arts awareness and arts education. It is the mission of the Grand Opera House to provide for the enrichment and appreciation of the community in the areas of art, drama, music, dance education, community service and historical preservation.
